Elizabeth Perryman, soprano, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music
Education from Eastern Illinois University and Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance
at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. In May 2004, Ms. Perryman completed
a Professional Studies Diploma at Mannes School of Music. Ms. Perryman has sung
professionally with Pensacola Opera as the Mother in Hansel and Gretel and as
the cover of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. Ms. Perryman was a 2000 apprentice artist
with Des Moines Metro Opera and sang the role of Suor Angelica with American Singers
Opera Project in the summer of 2003. Ms. Perryman has been a three time regional
finalist with the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, a finalist in American Institute
of Musical Studies 2001 Meistersinger competition, and a semi-finalist in the
Chicago Bel Canto competition. In August of 2003, Ms. Perryman was awarded first
place in the Sigma Alpha Iota Graduate Performance Awards at the music fraternity’s
national convention. This past year she was featured in a workshop performance
of the Richard Brooks premiere opera “Robert and Hal”, studied the role of the
Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Martina Arroyo role preparation class,
and was a part of the past season with Chelsea Opera; featured as Mimi in a January
2005 scenes program. In January, she recorded a new composition “Dreams” for
composer Timothy Brown. Other operatic roles she has sung include: Donna Elvira
in Don Giovanni, Helena in a Midsummer Night’s Dream, Micaela in Carmen, Fiordiligi
in Cosi fan Tutte, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus and Hanna Glawari in Die Fledermaus.
Elizabeth Perryman has taught in the public school system for the past 14 years.
She teaches private voice to students of all ages. While in the Chicago area,
Ms. Perryman was a voice teacher with the Bob Creed Music Studio in Oak Lawn,
and Music Makers of Western Springs. Currently she teaches private voice at
the Church Street School for Music and Art in NYC. As a graduate student, Ms.
Perryman taught private voice to music minors and theatre majors. She has completed
three years study towards a Doctorate of Musical Arts at Louisiana State University.
Her assistantship at LSU included teaching private voice lessons to undergraduates,
voice class for non-music majors and a section of vocal music methods for instrumentals
in 2001.
